There’s something about fall in Northern Utah that makes you want to get outside and soak up every last bit of it. The leaves start changing, the air gets crisp, pumpkins show up everywhere, and suddenly there’s a whole calendar of things to do.
The good news? You don’t have to spend a lot to enjoy the season. From scenic drives and local markets to pumpkin walks and family-friendly Halloween events, there are plenty of ways to make the most of fall without making a big dent in your budget.
Here are a few of our favorite ways to enjoy fall in Northern Utah.
Take a Drive Through Logan Canyon
You don’t need an expensive weekend getaway to enjoy some of Northern Utah’s best fall scenery. Hop in the car, pack some snacks and take a drive through Logan Canyon.
The Logan Canyon National Scenic Byway is especially beautiful in the fall. There are plenty of pullouts where you can stop for photos, stretch your legs or enjoy a picnic along the way.
Make a day of it by packing lunch from home and bringing a thermos of your favorite fall drink. You’ll get the feeling of a mini getaway without the cost of one.
Looking for something a little farther south? Sardine Canyon between Logan and Brigham City is also a great option, with beautiful leaves in late September into October.
Wander Through the North Logan Pumpkin Walk
It's free, and it's a classic for a reason: the Pumpkin Walk in North Logan definitely deserves a spot on your fall fun list.
This longtime Cache Valley tradition returns October 15–17 and October 19–20 at Elk Ridge Park. Admission is free, and the event features dozens of handcrafted scenes made with hundreds of carved and lit pumpkins. There are also character visits, live music, photo opportunities and free treats.
One thing to keep in mind: parking can get a little crowded, since the event is so popular. Plan ahead and check here for official guidelines on getting to the Pumpkin Walk, including info on a free shuttle service!
Browse the Cache Valley Gardeners’ Market
Fall is a great time to visit a local farmers market, especially if you’re looking for seasonal produce, handmade goods or a Saturday morning activity.
The Cache Valley Gardeners’ Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. behind the Historic Courthouse in downtown Logan through October 17. Along with local produce and handmade goods, the market features live music and special events throughout the season.
You don’t have to spend money to enjoy the market, either. Grab a friend, walk around, listen to some live music and enjoy the atmosphere. If you do decide to shop, consider picking up ingredients for a homemade fall meal instead of spending money on a restaurant.
Get Spooky at Creature Crawl
For a little Halloween fun without a big price tag, head to the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge for Creature Crawl on September 26 from 4–8 p.m.
This family-friendly event is free and includes an enchanted trail walk, treats, pumpkin painting, crafts and activities, plus a chance to meet the Mad Biologist. Costumes are welcome, so pull out something you already have at home and make an evening of it.
Find Your Way Through a Local Corn Maze
Fall and corn mazes just go together. Luckily, Northern Utah has several options to choose from, so you can find one that works for your family and your budget.
In Cache Valley, options include Little Bear Bottoms Farm and American West Heritage Center in Wellsville and Cache Valley Straw Maze in Richmond. If you’re closer to Box Elder County, Old Farm Corn Maze in Elwood is another great option.
Before you go, check ticket prices and see what’s included. If you’re trying to save, look for daytime admission, family packages or nights without additional haunted attractions. And don’t forget to pack your own water and snacks if the maze allows it.
Dance at Logan’s Halloween Silent Disco
Looking for Halloween plans? Logan City is hosting a Halloween Silent Disco Party at Laub Plaza on October 31 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Instead of a traditional dance floor with speakers, silent discos give participants headphones and let them dance along to music playing through their own headset. It’s a fun way to celebrate Halloween, and you can make the night even more budget-friendly by grabbing dinner at home beforehand and putting together a costume with pieces you already have!

Catch a Movie Under the Stars
You don’t always need a movie theater ticket to enjoy a movie night.
Logan’s Cinema Under the Stars turns Laub Plaza into an outdoor theater, with free movies and free popcorn. For fall 2026, the remaining screenings include Legally Blonde on September 18 and Coco on October 2. Both begin at 8 p.m.
Bring a blanket or low-back chair, dress for the cooler evening weather and settle in for a movie under the stars. It’s basically the perfect fall Friday night, and it’s hard to beat free.
Trunk-or-Treat with Elevate
Looking for a family-friendly way to celebrate Halloween while supporting a local organization? Join New Hope Crisis Center for a community Trunk-or-Treat event on October 26 from 5–7 p.m. at 594 E 700 S in Brigham City.
The event is being held in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and is a chance for families to enjoy a night of Halloween fun and treats in the community.

Make Your Own Fall Fun
Some of the best fall activities don’t require an admission fee at all.
Take a walk through your neighborhood to look at the changing leaves. Have a pumpkin-carving night at home. Make homemade apple cider. Visit a local park with a travel mug of hot chocolate. Have a family Halloween movie marathon. Or pack a picnic and find a pretty spot to watch the leaves change.
The point isn’t to fill every weekend with expensive activities. It’s to slow down, get outside and enjoy the season while it’s here.
Enjoy Fall Without Overspending
Fall in Northern Utah gives us plenty of opportunities to have fun without spending a fortune. Before you make plans, look for free community events, pack food and drinks from home when possible, and choose one or two paid activities that your family is really excited about.
A little planning can go a long way. And sometimes, all you really need is a beautiful canyon, a few pumpkins and good company to make a fall day memorable.
